Joy to the World is one of the most popular Christmas carols. This Christian hymn was written by Isaac Watts in 1719 and is based on Psalm 98, Psalm 96:11,12 and Genesis 3:17-18. It is a joyful declaration of what we celebrate at Christmas: that the Lord Jesus Christ has come to earth as our Savior and King to bring us salvation, love, peace, and forgiveness. These are the lyrics:

Joy to the World; the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King!
Let ev'ry heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing.

Joy to the earth, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields & floods, rocks, hills & plains
Repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
